A combination of curiosity and empowerment define my every move in life.

I really hope you find here some inspiration that will empower you to tackle your next project! I am no expert but I would love to share with you my journey through this beautifully chaotic creative life.
A little bit about me. My name is Michelle M. and when I am not working my 9-5 engineering job, I love to create. I am a mom of a very active two year old and wife of the most supportive husband anyone could have ask for. A combination of curiosity and empowerment define my every move in life. I grew up as an only child with my mom, so we did everything together around the house. I was raised under the philosophy that there was nothing I was not able to do, if I just put my mind to it and study hard. And that, my friends, has been my motto throughout life (both professional and creative).
I started with painting when I was in high school but nothing serious or complex. Then one summer in college while I was on an internship in Cincinnati, my husband (then boyfriend) came to visit me and I decided to bake him a Green Lantern cake. I grabbed some fondant from the store and went for it. And it turned out pretty well!
After that I took a basic cake decorating class at Michael’s and loved it. After much practice, my decorating technique has been improving. Since then, I learned how to make the cake from scratch including the buttercream and to be honest my Red Velvet cake with cream cheese filling is to die for. ^.^ Here are some of the cakes I have made since then.
While I was learning and practicing how to do specialty cakes, a friend from work invited me to a Stamping Up party. I had no idea what that was, but I went anyway. That day I felt in love with card making, and bought half of the Stamping Up catalog. ^_^ I wanted to learn more and more about different techniques and stamp companies, and somehow I found Jennifer McGuire’s blog. I devoured her blog in a matter of weeks, I watched every single video that she posted to that date and then I bought some more stamps and tools 😛 Haven’t bought another card from the store ever since. Now my family and friends received cards handmade by me.
After all that I decided to venture into Woodworking, but I will leave that story for another time, because this is getting a bit long.
Anyways I just wanted to let you know that all it took for me to go from not knowing how to do something to doing it pretty well, was trying! And that is what this blog it’s all about I want to show you that you can do it!! It might not be perfect, it might take you a couple of tries but at the end you are going to sit back, admire your brand new masterpiece and feel pretty darn good about what you can accomplish by Doing it Yourself! So come with me in this journey of creating awesomeness!! <3
